The Board meets three times a year (Oct/Nov, March, June/July) to (1) review the School's operations and organize the year's events (back-to-school day, doctoral students' days, training courses, field placements, etc.), (2) approve proposed thesis topics and (3) interview candidates.
It examines any problems arising in the school's operation and any difficulties encountered in the progress of theses. It sometimes advises the School's Board of Governors on requests for exemption from HDR requirements. It advises on actions that the ED should undertake or modify to train doctoral students or to follow up with theses.
Depending on their skills, board members are also asked to participate in thesis committees and report on thesis progress to the ED GRNE management.
